Rotary can be an ally to Transition!!!!

Hello Transitioners,

Today I spoke to the Miamisburg Rotary Club. I was very pleased and very well received. I got this from Rotary's website (THEY'RE OUR NATURAL ALLIES!!!) :

Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world… (Rotarians)

are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. As signified by the motto Service Above Self, Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.

By taking time to learn about local and international issues, your club may discover new opportunities for effective service projects.

Today was my talk at Rotary. I gave my 30 slides in 30 minutes... it may have been a little frenetic, but it was truly heartening to LISTEN to their FOUR WAY TEST: 1 ) Is it the TRUTH? 2 ) Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3) Will it build GOODWILL and better FRIENDSHIPS? 4) Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? ...and to be listened to.

YOU CAN PRESENT TO YOUR LOCAL ROTARY CLUB! ! ! ! ! ! ! JUST ASK THEM. They are also bound by the United Nation's Global Compact!! Check this out!!

About the United Nations Global Compact with Rotary…

Launched in 2000, the United Nations Global Compact is a both a policy platform and a practical framework for companies that are committed to sustainability and responsible business practices. As a multi-stakeholder leadership initiative, it seeks to align business operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption and to catalyze actions in support of broader UN goals. With over 5,200 corporate signatories in more than 130 countries, it is the world's largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative. For more information, visit www.unglobalcompact.org. (from the compact:)

Businesses are asked to support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges; undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Transition should find all the allies it can as quickly as it can!!

Peace,

Leigh Waltz
